Welcome to Harvest Midwifery!
Harvest Midwifery provides community birth midwifery care from a certified professional midwife (CPM) to healthy women and their babies during the childbearing year. In Alabama, my service area is a radius of a 45 minute drive from Harvest, covering the eastern half of Limestone County, most of Madison County, and the western edge of Jackson County. In Tennessee, my service area includes a few towns on the southern edge of Giles and Lincoln Counties. The following cities or towns are within my service area: Huntsville, Madison, Athens, Tanner, Mooresville, Triana, Hazel Green, New Market, Paint Rock, Owens Cross Roads, Ardmore, Elkton, and Taft.
Midwifery care has been proven to be a safe, nurturing alternative to hospital birth for many healthy women. When the body's own instinctive knowledge is supported, most often pregnancy and birth unfold in a natural fashion, and unnecessary medical intervention can usually be avoided.
Around the world, most women labor and give birth with midwives as they have since ancient times. A certified professional midwife is extensively trained to support natural childbirth in the community setting, which include homes or birth centers. Modern midwifery combines the best of time-honored traditions with evidence-based care during the childbearing year. Harvest Midwifery offers a holistic approach to education, prenatal counseling, labor support, and postpartum care for families in the Tennessee Valley.
"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward." ~ Psalm 127:3 (ESV)
